A normal domestic clean includes surface items around the home, some nice presentation and any other tasks time allows.

Typically, we should be able to complete the following...

  • Wipe to skirting
  • Vacuum Throughout
  • Mop to hard floor areas
  • De-scale and sanitise to bathroom sanitary items, and treatment to toilets
  • Thorough clean to shower cubicle, shower head and base
  • Wipe to kitchen counter and display items
  • Wipe to outside of kitchen cupboards; clean to hob and outside of oven
  • Dust throughout
  • Change of bed linen in master bedroom

Periodically, and as part of a domestic clean, we can complete the following. It's useful to maybe set up a rota where one or more of the following is conducted each time, so during a two-month period or so, we can get round everything. All we ask is for the correct amount of time to be offered to do any of the following...

  • Thorough De-Grease of Oven and/or extractor
  • Sparkle Clean to Internal Windows and frames
  • Sanitise to Fridge/Freezer
  • Change of linen to all beds
  • Removal of furniture to clean area behind
  • Clean to inside kitchen cupboards
  • Polish to wood floor areas
  • Thorough clean to grout and mastic pointing.

When all of the above is requested, this normally forms the basis for a complete 'Spring Clean' Please refer to the 'Spring Cleaning' Page for further details.

It is also quite typical to have a big, one-off Spring Clean before commencing a regular domestic service. It's not essential, but may help.

Individual, Agency, or Company...?

When deciding on a cleaner, you generally have three choices. Firstly, you can employ the services of an individual - a friend of a friend, the lady down the road, from a shop advert or flyer. This choice has many obvious problems... Do you know them? Can you trust them? Will they always turn up? Will they clean well - or quickly? If you have a problem, will you feel comfortable letting them go?

Secondly, you can opt for an agency. The agency send one person to you, and using your cleaning materials, will clean (Maybe) for the designated time. You pay them directly for their time, and then pay the agency separately for having sent them to you. Again, fraught with problems. The cleaner has to make their way typically on public transport, will arrive without proper training, advise or motivation. Will they even turn up? If you're not happy with them, the agency will simply send an alternative. What happens when they, or you are on Holiday? What happens with your keys? Do you have to stay in all day if their late? Agencies typically employ people looking to supplement income, with their staff cleaning maybe one or two houses per day. Who checks to see if they have done a nice job? Who knows if they have cleaned for the time you're paying for?

Lastly, you can employ a company. Companies typically employ all members of staff directly on a full time basis, provide all the cleaning materials for each property, provide vehicles for the teams of cleaners to travel around in, and offer full training, safety information, and a team environment to keep spirits high. Full insurance, vetting processes and CRB checking is normal when working for a company. Companies tend to offer such employment so the staff are exclusive and only then follow the guidelines laid out for them to offer the best cleaning service possible. Our staff conduct over 10 tasks per day, working as part of a team. It may not be the cheapest option, but with such assurances, is price your only consideration...?

The Choice is Yours...
